Al Thumama Stadium was inaugurated on Friday (22/10) when Qatar hosted the final football match for the Amir Cup, which will also be the first official match at the stadium that will host the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The inauguration of the stadium with a capacity of 40,000 people follows various other stadiums that were previously inaugurated, such as Khalifa International, Al Janoub, Education City, Ahmad Bin Ali and Al Bayt. All of these facilities are declared ready to host the first FIFA World Cup to be held in the Middle East and Arab countries.
The stadium will also host the competition for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup Qatar which will consist of six matches, including the semi-finals at the end of 2022.
