Queen of England Returns to Windsor After Checks in Hospital

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II returned to her home, Windsor Castle, Thursday afternoon (21/10) after spending the night in hospital for a checkup, Buckingham Palace said.

The check comes after the Queen “reluctantly” accepted medical advice to rest a few days and canceled a trip to mark Northern Ireland’s 100th anniversary.

The palace said the Queen, 95, went to the private King Edward VII Hospital in London on Wednesday (20/10) for an “early examination.” The palace did not provide details, but it is understood that the decision was not related to COVID-19. The Queen has been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The palace confirmed that the queen was hospitalized after The Sun daily reported the news.

The queen is now returning to Windsor Castle, west London, where she has been more since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. [ka/ab]
