Former US Security Post in Syria Attacked by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

An alleged drone strike hit a security outpost in southern Syria on Wednesday (20/10). This post was used by the United States security forces while serving there.

U.S. Central Command spokesman Captain Bill Urban called the attack “deliberate and coordinated.”

“Based on initial reports, the attack used an unmanned aerial system and indirect fire,” he added.

U.S. officials say no Americans were injured or killed in the attack.

The attack took place at the Al Tanf base in Syria, which is adjacent to the Iraqi and Jordanian borders.

The security post was previously built as part of an effort to defeat ISIS. [em/lt]
