A South Korean-produced TV drama, Squid Game, tells the story of a number of desperate adults, competing in a child’s game that can end in death. They join the game in order to get a chance to get out of their huge debt burden. The film has been a huge success all over the world.
One of the deadly challenges in the film is that the participants are required to cut the dalgona cake according to a predetermined shape without breaking or breaking it.
The Ciudad Librera, a bookstore in Lima, Peru, is giving away free books to visitors who are able to complete the dalgona candy challenge.
Angie Ferrer, one of the participants in the game said, “I think the bookstore Ciudad Librera, with this innovative idea, is promoting interest in reading and encouraging the enjoyment of reading for children, teens and adults who love the Squid Game.”
The film Squid Game has become the biggest TV show series released by Netflix after reaching an estimated 111 million fans, including in Peru.
Chrisel Arquigeno, Ciudad Librera bookstore manager said, “We believe this is a great way to attract people’s attention through this activity, so they can become more familiar with our bookstore as well as with the books.”
Ciudad Librera is a community center equipped with a bookstore and located in several districts of the city of Lima. The bookstore seeks to promote reading activities through books that can be borrowed or purchased. [lj/ka]
