Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry said the country was working to allow entry of travelers from the United States who had been vaccinated against COVID-19 without going through quarantine before the end of the year.
Singapore, a travel and tourism hub, started a similar program for travelers from Germany and Brunei last month as part of the gradual easing of COVID-19 border controls.
“We have been successful pilots of the Vaccination Travel Path (Vaccinated Travel Lanes/VTL) with Germany and Brunei to facilitate the entry of fully vaccinated individuals into Singapore for business and leisure,” said Gan Kim Yong in a speech during a visit to Washington DC.
“We are now working on VTL with the US as soon as possible, and of course before the end of the year,” he said Reuters.
Visitors who are vaccinated at the VTL can pass the isolation requirements if they test negative in the polymerase chain reaction test. [ah/rs]
