Famous American musician and singer Gloria Estefan said she was sexually abused when she was nine years old. According to her confession, she was abused by someone her mother trusted, the news agency reported Associated Press.
The famous American singer of Cuban descent for the first time revealed the abuse and its impact on him on the Facebook Watch program “Red Table Talk: The Estefans” that aired Thursday (30/9).
Together with other presenters who are also her own daughter, Emily Estefan, and her niece Lili Estefan, Gloria Estefan started her presentation by saying that “93 percent of children who are abused know and believe the perpetrators, and I know this, because I am one of them. .”
Estefan described how his mother sent him to a music school run by a relative.
He then said that his mother at that time felt lucky that her relative had focused special attention on Estefan.
Estefan, who was born in Cuba and moved to Miami with his family as a toddler, revealed the abuse he experienced near the end of the show.
Associated Press usually do not name victims of sexual harassment unless they agree to be named or disclose them publicly. (my/rs)
