Trump Calls For Arizona Election Desertification Despite New Audit Results

Former US President Donald Trump on Saturday reiterated his false claims of voter fraud during the election in the crucial state of Arizona. The claim came a day after a review of the election results by his own Republican allies who confirmed Trump’s defeat of Biden in the state in the 2020 US presidential election.

“Obviously in Arizona they have to decertify the election,” Trump told a crowd of supporters in Perry, Georgia, where he is campaigning for a number of Republican senator candidates. “Those responsible for wrongdoing must be held accountable,” he said.

Friday’s review of election results closes an effort sparked by Trump’s false claims about voter fraud.

While they found that most of the overall vote count was consistent, the report highlighted a range of alleged problems, including the 10,342 possible voters casting their ballots in different districts or cities.

Trump, who expects the Arizona investigation to substantiate his claims, issued a statement Friday that appeared to contradict the review’s findings. He called it a “big victory for democracy and a great victory for us.”

On Saturday (25/9), Trump appeared to continue to ignore the conclusions of Friday’s review, repeating his comments about what he called “fake news” or “fake news.”

The report’s conclusion will disappoint Trump supporters who are pushing for a review. Many of his supporters hope that it will prove Trump’s unsubstantiated claims that he was ‘robbed’ of re-election as president because of orchestrated fraud. So far, no evidence has been provided, either by Trump or his supporters. [rd/ah]
