The United States on Tuesday condemned the attempted coup in Sudan and warned that “outsiders should not interfere” with the country’s ongoing transition to democracy.
“Anti-democratic action like the one that occurred on September 21 in Khartoum undermines the Sudanese people’s desire for freedom and justice and risks international support for Sudan, including bilateral relations with the United States,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price.
“We condemn external interference that seeks to sow disinformation and undermine the will of the Sudanese people,” he said in a statement, without elaborating. (ka/ps)
