Tennis wins Indonesia’s 10th gold at the Asian Games

Indonesian tennis players Christopher Benjamin Rungkat and Aldila Sutjiadi contributed their 10th gold medal at the Asian Games from the mixed doubles number, Saturday (25/8).

Christopher and Aldila defeated Thailand’s mixed doubles, Luksika Kumkhum and Sonchat Ratiwatana, in three sets at the Jakabaring Sports City tennis court in Palembang, South Sumatra, as reported by the Asian Games website quoting Antara.

This achievement was unexpected because Indonesia was only targeting a bronze medal for tennis.

Until this news was revealed, Sunday (26/8) morning, Indonesia was still in fifth place with 39 medals after Iran. Iran collected a total of 34 medals, but has overtaken Indonesia for the gold medal by bagging 14 medals. [ft]
