Indonesian Pencak Silat Buys Gold Medal at Asian Games

The sport of pencak silat succeeded in increasing Indonesia’s gold medal coffers by buying a total of five gold medals at the 2018 Asian Games competition which was held at Padepokan Taman Mini Indonesia, Wednesday (29/8).

Pencak silat athlete, Sugianto, contributed his ninth gold medal for the sport of pencak silat, as well as his 25th gold for Indonesia.

The pencak silat gold medal harvest continued with the victories of Ayu Sidan Wilantari and Ni Made Dwiyanto in the women’s doubles event and the women’s team of Indonesian pencak silat in the women’s team event. The women’s pencak silat team was strengthened by Yuristya Pramudita, Gina Tri Lestari and Lutfi Nurhasan. Of the two numbers, Indonesia won the 26th and 27th gold medals.

The hunt for the gold medal for the Indonesian pencak silat team has returned to fruition. Pesilat Kamelia Pipiet presented her 28th gold medal in the 60-65 kg fighting class after defeating a fighter from Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Cam Nhi.

Not long after, Hanifan Yudani Kusumah, also won the 29th gold medal for Indonesia as well as the 13th gold for pencak silat, from the men’s fighting number in the 55kg – 60kg class.

The Indonesian pencak silat team became the sport with the most medals, with a total of 13 medals.

With a clean sweep of gold medals from the pencak silat sport, Indonesia’s position until this news was revealed, remained in fourth place with a total of 86 medals. [vp/ft]
